I’m Salve Kirsten Haresco, a caregiver in Israel for over two years and a 2015 graduate of Lifeline International Health Institute. I chose caregiving because of its high demand in Japan and Canada, but I found my place in Israel.
I started by caring for my father after his mild stroke, which helped me understand the demands of caregiving. Lifeline taught me valuable lessons on handling real-life scenarios and managing client mood swings, especially in dementia cases.
The biggest challenge is dealing with the unpredictable moods of dementia clients, and family support is crucial.
To aspiring caregivers: no job is easy. It takes effort, patience, courage, and determination. Be open to adapting and learning, especially with language barriers. Remember that building good relationships is essential. Filipinos are preferred for their adaptability and training, so make that your advantage.
My advice to you is to maintain a positive attitude, patience, and maturity. Take care of your health, as clients depend on you. Stay connected with your faith for strength during tough times. Stay strong, and good luck. You have a promising future ahead!
Enrolling at Lifeline International Health Institute was the best decision of my life. The training was thorough, hands-on, and aligned with international caregiving standards. Thanks to their support, I am now a full-time caregiver in Canada.
